Today you passed away as the snow fell. It was always one of your favorite things to do, wallowing in the snow. Every time I saw you do it, it brought a smile and a laugh. Today I’m sad and nothing will take away the pain I feel as I sit at the desk that you always laid next to while I worked trying to figure out the next best thing for our business. You never complained except for when Bryon (Business Partner) called. She knew his voice immediately and would bark. I don’t blame her actually as he can be annoying from time to time lol…
You lived an incredible life from the very start, living along the Gulf of Mexico for your first 2 years. We took the boat out all the time and you earned your sea legs. You were a real “Sea Dog” for sure!
The next phase of your life was spent in the Pacific Northwest, Arizona, and a year in California. So many different places to see and enjoy. Swimming in lakes, rivers, and the Puget Sound. Hiking, camping, and exploring the western states. You never missed an opportunity to enjoy a good swim. There was never a dull moment.
Then it was back to the east coast where you enjoyed several years of boating in Florida. Awesome afterwork boat rides and enjoying the pool just prior to sunset. Heck, you traveled all the way from North of Seattle, Washington all the way to the Florida Keys…. Just as far as one can drive in the United States… I don’t think too many dogs can make that claim!
We piled on the road miles together over the last 4 years as we built our company “Expedition Joe Coffee Company” where you accepted the job of “Head Shop Dog”. We traversed the United State a few times during those years. You attended both the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah as well as the Overland West Show in Flagstaff, AZ.
Some things I forgot to thank you for…
All the days when things weren’t going just right, and you nudged me with your nose or put your head on my knee only to say that everything is going to be OK Dad…
Our early morning coffee time together when you were trying to jump in my lap as I was trying to put on my boots…
The thousands of special face licks (kisses) that you gave because you loved us…
You loved us unconditionally and without hesitation. No matter what life threw at us you were always there and always went the distance no matter how much we asked of you. You will truly be missed more than you could ever know. I will never forget this day and will always love you. Only GOD in Heaven could have created such a bond between a man and his dog! I thank him for giving me the opportunity and responsibility to care for you for over 14 years.
We love you Mocha Gunner…. Rest In Peace…
